As opposition player Sam Cronin of the San Jose Earthquakes lay injured on the floor on the edge of the penalty area LA Galaxy’s Beckham picked up the ball, which was not in play, towards the edge of the pitch and volleyed it towards the horizontal ‘victim’.
With precision accuracy the ball landed right on the player, who, seemingly forgetting about his injuries, sprang to his feet and charged over towards the moustachioed Brit, a melee involving several players ensuing.
This incident came days after Beckham’s snub by Stuart Pearce in his selection for the Team GB Olympics football squad.
