The ‘mermaid’ was captured on camera sitting on rocks close to the coast of Kiyat Yam in Israel by what appears to be amateur footage by hikers.
“I was with friends when suddenly we saw a woman laying on the sand in a weird way. At first I thought she was just another sunbather, but when we approached she jumped into the water and disappeared. We were all in shock because we saw she had a tail,” said ‘eyewitness’ Shlomo Cohen.
As the cunning viral video comes to a close the half-fish half-woman creature seems to flip off back into the sea.
It’s either a very cunning bit of CGI created by the Israeli tourist board – the town are offering a $1 million reward for proof of existence, presumably dead or alive – or the mythological mermaids told in tales by lonely sailors in days of yore really DO exist. We’ll leave it up to you to decide.
