Three kiwi soldiers killed in Afghanistan last week were all members of the regiment.

Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker, 26; Corporal Luke Tamatea, 31 and Private Richard Harris, 21, were killed in after a roadside IED hit their patrol on August 19.

The emotional video shows hundreds of soldiers moving towards the three hearses carrying their dead colleagues.

“Haka is used by Māori (indigenous people of New Zealand) for a myriad of reasons,” read a NZ Defence Force statement about the video.

“There is almost no inappropriate occasion for haka; it is an outward display of inner thoughts and emotions. Within the context of an occasion it is abundantly clear which emotion is being expressed.”

The video has garnered comments of support and respect from service personnel the world over.
