18 cyclists and pedestrians ignored the girl bleeding in the road after she’d been hit, after the initial white van. She was then run over again by another van.
Finally Chen Xianmei, a female bin lady, spotted the child and came to her rescue. Her injuries were so severe she died in hospital.
Xinhua news agency reported that the van driver Hu Jun has been jailed for three-and-a-half-years for ‘involuntary homicide’ after turning himself in.
He told the court that did not realise he had hit a child.
The child’s family have received approximately £30,000 from donations to help with medical bills.
