The one-year-old was hurled from her parent’s Mitsubishi onto the road after their car spun out of control. The driver was illegally crossing a solid white line on a slick road in western Russia in order to overtake.
The vehicle spun backwards and crashed into traffic on the opposite side of the highway. The impact propelled the girl out of the window and onto the middle of the highway.
A lorry driver spotted the child just in time to swerve out of the way. He missed her by mere inches.
Just as another lorry was approaching, her parents ran from the car to pick her up and carry her to the opposite side of the road.
Police told Russia state television that the child had not been strapped into a seat, but was instead placed on the parcel shelf under the rear window with a blanket.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for cuts and bruises on the head, a damaged lip and a concussion.
