“If you watch this show and like this show, that is because of the people that work here, of which I am lucky enough to be one,” Colbert said.

He then goes on to break from his normal screen character to talk about his mother’s life, how she met her husband and of her love for her 11 children, movingly ending by saying how she instilled in them all a gratitude for each of their days together.
