On Wednesday afternoon, Sydney received a battering from a storm cell that ensured commuters faced delayed journeys home, planes were diverted to other airports including Canberra and Brisbane, and over 22mm of rain fell in Illawarra.
According to the Australian Daily Telegraph website, The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that the heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in some areas over the next few hours.
People in Albury, Sydney, Parramatta, Wollongong, Nowra, Bowral, Batemans Bay, Orange, Bathurst, Katoomba, Goulburn and Parkes may be affected by the floods.
The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that the State Emergency Service has advised people to stay away from creeks and storm drains, unplug electrical devices, and stay indoors. Residents of affected areas have also been told to avoid riding bikes, walking or driving through flooded areas.
