The Rumble Strips (Island)
Island Records have thrown the kitchen sink at second LP by indie-pop mediocrities The Rumble Strips, enlisting Mark Ronson to produce it and bringing in Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire, Last Shadow Puppets) to add the strings.
Unfortunately, as the old folk saying goes, you can’t make chicken soup out of chicken shit.
Welcome To The Walk Alone is a little like a terrible cartoon being hung in a gilt-edged frame in the hope that it’ll disguise the lack of quality. It doesn’t.
