The scene: Once you’re done torturing yourself in the area’s exorbitantly priced furniture stores, drown your sorrows at this sleek watering hole on the corner. There are pavement tables for people-watching as well as secluded booths for nightcaps and canoodling.

The grub: A great spot for brunch. If you’re splashing out, you can’t go wrong with the smoked salmon and caviar on crusty bread.

Behind the bar: Brimming with different wines of both colours, as well as a hefty cocktail menu. If you really want to blow out the cobwebs after a rough night, though, the Bloody Mary is a winner.

Bill please: Brunch and drinks for two for between £25 and £30.

Verdict: It’s stylish and is an attractive destination night and day, but is a bit short on character, especially when less than half-full.
