What: The Glastonbury for dirt bike fans, where 1000 or so of the “maddest and baddest” riders (on dirt bikes, quad bikes and sidecars) from around the world zoom down the expanse of Weston Beach and over purpose-built sand dunes, watched by 100,000 eager spectators.
Where: Weston-super-Mare, south-west of Bristol.
When: October 9-11.
Why: It’s been going since 1983, and seems to be getting more and more popular.
Do it because: There’s loads of off-track entertainment, as well as the spectacular, all-action racing.
