Claire Denis’s powerful drama sees a French woman (Isabelle Huppert) stubbornly refuse to leave her African coffee plantation as civil war breaks out. Top performances (in particular by Huppert) and great cinematography combine in this haunting exploration of the problems caused by colonialism.
