Winterville returns to the capital with the best alternative entertainment on offer this festive season. Opening this Thursday 26th November and set in London’s beautiful Victoria Park, organisers have enlisted the very best of the local home grown talent in the form of theatre, cabaret and comedy as well enlisting global artistes to perform circus acts like never seen before to provide for every wish and desire this Christmas.
Shit Faced Shakespeare return to the beautiful Dutch Spiegeltent for four dates this December after last year’s run of sell out shows. Side-splitting, raucous and completely interactive, the show has already entertained over 30,000 eager theatre goers with their entirely shit-faced cast members (19th, 20th, 22nd Dec). Two of London’s finest comediennes join forces for a hilarious evening of comedy and dance. Ellie Taylor, who has appeared on Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats as well as her own debut stand up Ellimentary joins together with Comedian Luisa Omielan who is best known for her viral ‘What Would Beyonce Do’ show and 5 star ‘Am I Right Ladies’ for a raucous night at Winterville (Dec 8th.)
London’s finest Cirque Du Cabaret troupe bring a brand new show to Winterville across three dates, each show hosting a different line up of global cabaret, burlesque and circus stars including Sophia St Villier, Arabella Drummond, Coco Malone. Expect sharp suits, glitter, very saucy behaviour, high circus skills and at least one fake Russian accent (26th Nov, 10th, 17th Dec.)
On three special late nights, the Circus Big Top will transform into a house ‘ruled by the undead’ with the Britain’s Got Talent finalists Circus Of Horrors performing ‘A Nightmare On Xmas’ as part of its 21st Anniversary tour. Expect Sword Swallowers, Human Pin Cushion, Death Deifying Aerialists, A Guinness World Record holding Hairculian Diva swinging solely from her hair, back flipping & fire limboing Voodoo acrobats & lots lots more (5th, 11th, 19th Dec.)
Club nights in Winterville town are provided by Bugged Out! as they put on Bugged Out’s Little Bugger every Friday in the Spiegelent with very special guests announced each week. This Friday (27th Nov) seesArtwork take over the decks providing party tunes with The 2 Bear’s Raf Daddy announced for the following Friday (4th Dec). For three nights, you can join the all-singing, all dancing 80’s inspired Mighty Hoopla, presented by Guilty Pleasures where you can confess your sins to the in-house priest ‘Father Oates’ (5th, 12th 19th Dec.) Look out for special guests the Old Dirty Brasstards on December 19th.
For one night only, Bogan Bingo are hosting an hour long Bingo session paired with the ultimate Power Ballad soundtrack ‘the greatest songs ever written’ (28th Nov). After two years wowing the West End, The Camptastic La La Piano Bar comes to Winterville with their New York style piano bar with the luscious Lady La La, providing an awesome night of musical debauchery, aural indulgence and general vocal twerking (13th Dec).
As part of his annual Christmas Show and after last year’s sell out at Winterville, the folk musician James Yorkson returns to light up the Spiegeltent with his performance (9th December).
East London’s alternative festive town of Winterville returns to Victoria Park with an amazing programme that also includes the outdoor Ice Rink, alternative Christmas Markets, the local town pub ‘Bar Humbug’ serving up craft beer and hot cocktails and London’s favourite street food vendors in the undercover, heated Food Hall. Navigate round the snowdrift at Plonk Crazy Golf and Backyard Cinema will be showcasing Christmas classics new and old as well as non-festive related screenings in a magical Winters Night Garden. The Circus is coming to town with stars form The Moscow State Circus and the Kids Quarter is the perfect spot to visit Santa in his Grotto and try out the Pop Shop workshops whilst taking a look around the amazing kiddies market.
