A woman to ripped a hole in her throat with over enthusiastic vuvuzela blowing.

The Bafana Bafana supporter, from Cape Town, was taking part in a vuvuzela blowing competition when she felt her throat start to burn. “I just thought I was getting sick,” she told News 24.

However, by the end of the match, she was in agony. It felt as if a bubble had become stuck in her windpipe, she said.

The next day, a doctor revealed that the pressure in her windpipe had become too much, resulting in part of her throat rupturing.

Dr Scott Barker of Netcare Blaauberg Hospital said the continuous vuvuzela blowing after the initial tear had resulted in the wound becoming bigger.

The unfortunate trumpeter couldn’t eat or speak for two days.

Be warned!
