Finally, finally, Fifa has confirmed that at least a couple of South Africans will grace the stage at the World Cup opening concert being held in their homeland.

If you were one of the Saffas who was outraged that Shakira’s Waka Waka has been chosen as the official World Cup anthem then this should bring your blood pressure down a bit.

Fifa’s announcement comes after the initial line-up was criticised for ignoring local artists.

South African musicians including jazz musician Hugh Masekela, Freshlyground and the Soweto Gospel Choir will now join the like of Shakira, Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Angelique Kidjo at the event in Johannesburg on 10 June.

Happy now? Let us know…
