Nicole Scherzinger is believed to be the host of the new US X Factor series, which is set to start filming in a few months’ time.

Nothing has officially been confirmed, however, a source today told the Daily Mirror:

‘Having lined up Nicole as a potential judge, Simon decided to try something different and unexpected, and have a non-mainstream presenter present.”

“Nicole’s had screen tests and is a natural in front of the camera. Autocue does not faze her at all. As an established singer, both as a solo artist and in a group, Nicole will be great with the contestants and knows what she is talking about.”

The source added: “The approach was made a few weeks ago. And although she has still not formally signed, it’s all looking very positive.”

Only a few weeks ago reports said that Simon was searching for a “non-conventional female superstar and a male pin-up singer” to host the series.

Enrique Inglesias has been linked to male hosting role, and it now seems that Scherzinger could be the “non-conventional female superstar”, they have been looking for.

If Nicole will take on the hosting role, this could open up the possibility of Cheryl Cole snapping up a role on the judging panel.

According to the Daily Mail, music producer Anotonia ‘L.A.’ Reid has already been confirmed as one of the judges on the show.
