Farnham thanked his peers for naming him Australia’s #1 in a report by The Herald Sun.
“Just to be in the company of the people on that list will do me.. I’m blown away,” he said.
Farnham beat out the likes of AC/DC’s Bon Scott, Nick Cave, Michael Hutchence of INXS and Jimmy Barnes.
The poll has sparked much debate on social media, particularly regarding the ranking of the countries female singers.
Kylie Minogue, one of Australia’s most popular exports, missed out on the Top 50, yet Tina Arena was voted #3.
Olivia Newton-John’s place at #36 has also raised criticism.
