A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Thursday for raping his 9-year-old sister in Zondi, Soweto, Gauteng police said.
Inspector Kay Makhubela said the girl told her teacher of the rape on Monday at school in Dobsonville.
“The girl told her teacher that her brother had sexually assaulted her several times. The latest incident was on Sunday,” said Makhubela.
He said the teacher informed a social worker who interviewed the child.
“The social worker alerted the police. The teenager was then arrested on Thursday morning at his home,” said Makhubela.
He was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing a rape charge.
