The scene A numerically challenged happy hour (Mon-Thur, 5-10pm; Fri-Sat, 5-9pm) that includes half-price cocktails and a mood that shifts in line with those kicking in makes this the place to go when you can’t think of somewhere that won’t piss at least someone off.
Not a world-changer, but who cares when there’s no attitude at the door, attentive staff, an accessible music mix and incentives for groups to get in early (one party of eight got £50 at the bar for arriving before 8pm).
The grub A globe-trotting feast includes burgers (£6.95), Tex-Mex fajitas (£7.50), Greek lamb skewers with tzatziki (£6.25) and more. The choice of sharing platters (£14.95) are tops for value and being able to hold a drink while eating.
Behind the bar An easy-pleaser wine list from the usual suspects (Italy, Spain, Chile, with an inclusion each from Oz, NZ and SA); house spirits served 50ml as standard; beers include Asahi draft and Becks, Sol and Heineken; top notch classic cocktails.
Bill please Wines from £4.80/ £16.50 a glass/ bottle; spirits with mixer £7.50; beers £4.15 a pint and from £3.95 a bottle; cocktails £8.50.
Verdict A bar that keeps a diverse group happy after work and for party time.
