The actor, 71, was airlifted to hospital yesterday after being crushed by the door of the Millennium Falcon during filming of the new Star Wars film.

LucasFilm has confirmed that Ford's ankle was broken, and that he is currently recovering.

A spokesman for the company said: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."

Ford is playing Hans Solo in the new film, which is due to be released in 2015.

Before his tumble, he was spotted out and about in London this week enjoying the pubs of Chelsea and mooching around a wholefood shop in Kensington. Let's hope he recovers soon.
