Tell us about the shows this week ...
They will be about the British canal system, particularly the invention of aqueducts.
Who inspired you to pick up a mic?
Engineer and pioneer of the modern British canal, James Brindley.
Where was your first show?
When I was a boy I joined my father on a shopping trip to Topps Tiles, but decided tiles were boring and broke away from his gaze to wander to a stretch of canal near West Bromwich.
There, some geese were attempting to open a black plastic bag that had been thrown in the water by a tramp. I told them some jokes about James Brindley and the British Waterways, but they were distracted by their other, apparently more pressing, task.
The gig went terribly. I endeavoured to prove to those geese that I am funny and they should’ve listened. The rest is history.
What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen?
I once saw a man drown to death in a lock.
