Indulge in a succulent, mouth-watering Chivito and some of the finest wines Uruguay has to offer, this July and August, as leading Uruguayan winery Bodega Garzón teams up with Urban Food Fest, one of London’s buzzing street food markets, to bring us a taste of the country’s delicacies.

With a delicious and sophisticated red from Tannat – a French grape which found a new home in Uruguay in the 19th century – and refreshing, elegant whites from Albariño and Viognier, Bodega Garzón will have something on offer for all wine lovers. Bodega Garzón’s restaurant partner, will also be on hand throughout the two-month celebration of Uruguay, to ensure that we don’t go hungry. With a menu offering tasty and authentic Uruguayan dishes such as the Chivito, a traditional sandwich-style dish consisting of a thin slice of tender, flavoursome filet mignon, creamy mozzarella, juicy tomatoes and fresh olives, all inside a fluffy soft bun, you won’t be getting food envy from your friend’s burger.

Nestled between Brazil and Argentina, on South America’s Atlantic Coast, Uruguay is renowned for its wide sandy beaches and elegant laidback lifestyle, centred around the lively town of Punta del Este, widely known as the “St Tropez of the South”. The coastline stretches out towards the artists’ enclave of José Ignacio, a stone’s throw from the state-of-the-art Bodega Garzón winery. Over two weekends in July and August, visitors to Urban Food Fest will be submerged in Uruguayan culture as Bodega Garzón and sister brand Colinas de Uruguay take over the event on Saturday 16th July and Saturday 20th August.

Emulating Garzón’s charming estate on hillsides that benefit from the influence of the Atlantic fresh breezes, 16 July will see Urban Food Fest play host to its very own vineyard, set with deck chairs for relaxing amongst the vines whilst enjoying a bite to eat and a refreshing glass of Bodega Garzón wine.

If the beach is more your thing, do not fear, as Colinas de Uruguay brings the beautiful shores of Punta del Este to the middle of Shoreditch on Saturday 20  August. Complete with a sandy beach, deck chairs for grabbing some rays and festoon lighting for when the sun sets, it will feel like you’re 6,000 miles around the world in Uruguay itself – who needs a holiday?

Bodega Garzón and Urban Food Fest will also be running competitions throughout both of the takeovers, offering everyone the chance to win a variety of prizes to add a little extra sunshine to the weekend.
