THE SCENE Tucked away on a side street, just around the corner from the bustling heartland of London’s theatre district, Archer Street remains a well-kept, stylish secret.

But probably not for long. Upstairs, you can pull up a pew by the window or stare out at Soho from one of the comfy sofas. Downstairs is more secluded, with plenty of dark corners and elbow-room if you prefer to sit at the bar.

THE GRUB: There’s no a la carte menu but there are complimentary cheese and charcuterie platters between 6pm and 7.30pm. And they’re fantastic.
BEHIND THE BAR: It’s all about the cocktails. The Hyun’s Martini packs a punch, while the Raspberry & Rhubarb Sling caters to less robust tastebuds. If you’re feeling a bit more experimental, try the Chilli & Passionfruit Martini. A lot of cocktail bars rely heavily on white spirits and fruity combinations, but you can get a Bulleit In The Afternoon if you want to taste the damage on the way down.

BILL PLEASE: Most of the cocktails are about £10, while spirits are £8. You can get a beer for £5.50 and wine starts at £25 per bottle.

VERDICT: It’s a slick but welcoming watering hole in one of London’s most vibrant drinking neighbourhoods. Certainly, it’s a place you’ll come back to and, if you’re lucky, the waitresses, who all have performing arts background, might even turn off the sound system and serenade you with a song of their own.
