If you found yourself being unceremoniously chivvied out of Victoria this morning, you'll be pleased to know that you weren't in any real danger - the 'bomb' in question was just a gas canister.

The canister was found by workers in Pimlico, and they raised the alarm - which resulted in no trains leaving or arriving at the station.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed that a 'controlled evacuation' had taken place, and said that after a brief investigation, the police and British Transport staff confirmed it was, in fact, a gas canister.

Many trains were delayed an cancelled, with the effects of the scare affecting services until this afternoon.

Experts have claimed that there could be up to 21,000 unexploded bombs around the UK - and the cities with the highest numbers are London, Plymouth, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.
