The Spice Girls will be performing at the London 2012 Closing Ceremony and the band, including Victoria Beckham, have been rehearsing their routine at a car plant in Dagenham.

Rumours have been circulating that the Spice Girls, as well as X Factor band One Direction, will be given pride of place at the Olympics closing ceremony. Now it appears that these were founded and the women will indeed be taking to the stage.

Pictures have emerged showing the Spice Girls performing on top of bejazzled London black cabs and on moving podiums.

The Olympics closing ceremony claims to be a celebration of the best of British music, something many have been questioning given the inclusion of The Spice Girls and One Direction.

For their part, however, the Spice Girls feel that the Olympics would not have been complete without their talent being added to the mix.

“I’d be really upset if the Spice Girls weren’t included in the Olympics, whether it be the opening or closing ceremonies or any other playlists, because I think we absolutely represented Britain in the 90s,” Mel C – aka Sporty Spice – said a few months ago.

The girls have continued to drop clanging hints about the Olympics closing ceremony performance. In April, Victoria Beckham – soon to be Posh Spice once more – tweeted a picture of a diamante-covered microphone along with the message, “Look what I found”. At the time, the cryptic Twitter message was taken to mean that she would appear at the Olympic closing ceremony.

Victoria then said in an interview that a Spice Girls reunion was certainly on her agenda.

“I’m so respectful of my past and I love the other girls. We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more,” she said.

Yesterday, the reunion appeared to be reality as Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B began going through their paces in an Essex car yard.

On Sunday, the women will transform once more into Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, Sporty Spice and Scary Spice to join One Direction, The Who, George Michael and other at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
