Could they be the next One Direction? Online teen pranksters The Janoskians just picked up a record deal with Sony.

The Melbourne kids who have gained millions of hits on YouTube for their series of popular Jackass-style street pranks are set to hit the pop charts.

However, anarchic gang Daniel Skip Sahyounie, James Yammouni and brothers Beau, Jai and Luke Brooks seem more likely to be the next Beastie Boys than a heart-throb boy band.

The group have notched up over 28 million views and counting of their videos in total online. Not only that but they're pretty hot stuff in the social media world with 800,000 Facebook fans and a total altogether of 900,000 followers on Twitter - each of the lads has their own account.

"We can't believe the incredible year we have had so far, it's been totally amazing. Signing with Sony Music is the icing on the cake and we can't wait to get into the studio and start laying down some tracks." Beau Brooks told

Sony will be hoping to cash in on some of the boy's web following and notoriety.

"We still have to pinch ourselves to believe that this is really happening." continued Brooks.

The Janoskians descibe themselves rather cheesily online thus: "We love having a good time! We only have one intention when doing our pranks, we want to make people all around the world smile!"

UPDATE 08/10/12: And finally, the music video has arrived....
