Former Queensland premier Peter Beattie has announced he is to run in Brisbane.
Beattie is to run for the seat of Forde in Brisbane, putting past differences between him and Rudd behind him to help the Labor party.
Beattie had been vocal in his frequent opposition to Rudd and supported former PM Julia Gillard in the various challenges of her leadership that saw Australia’s first female Prime Minister ousted from the job.
Beattie, whose wife had once said that she would kill him if he returned to politics, has said that he is supporting Rudd for the sake of the Labor party and that “what unites our team are strong values.”
