Most forms of transport are an improvement on London’s Victorian Tube network, but this impossibly futuristic concept blows it out of the water.

The so called Evacuated Tube Transport, an airless, frictionless, maglev-like form of transportation is so fandangled it can take you around the world in just six hours. We’ll take that for a weekend getaway!

Safer (though at 6,500 km/h fast, we’re not sure how), cheaper and quieter than trains or aeroplanes, capsules carry six people through the vacuum tubes. The system provides 50 times more transportation per kwh than its modern day commuting options.

As well as its impressive six-hour zips around the world, it can travel from New York to Beijing in just two hours.
