Was Prince Harry using the name Spike Wells as his pseudonym on Facebook? Harry fans in the know seem to think so.

The mysterious party-loving Spike Wells, whose profile was shut down last week, had 400 friends, including a number of high profile and wealthy types.

Harry is sometimes known by his nickname Spike by bodyguards and friends.

Shortly before the page was taken down after four years of good times, it featured a profile photo of three young men in Panama hats hanging out in a place that some have suggested was the Las Vegas MGM Grand. One of the young men bore more than a passing resemblance to the young prince.

One previous profile photo tellingly showed an image of a redhead kid with the caption 'Oh my God, I’m ginger'.

Spike's birthplace was also listed as Maun in Botswana - a place that Harry and ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy once visited on holiday.

There's also a protected Twitter account under the name Spike Wells - which actually rather blatantly has a photo of Prince Harry with a union flag. But is this a fake created to throw us off the trail? Hmmm.

Another recent profile image on the private account showed a mystery arctic adventurer holding a Walking With The Wounded flag - one of Harry's charities. Coincidence? Well, we'll leave that up to you to decide...

Former head of royal protection for Scotland Yard, Dai Davies, told The Daily Telegraph “From a security point of view I would never recommend anyone high-profile to have a Facebook account because, depending what you have on it, it is indicative sometimes of where you are going, what you are doing, and more importantly, who your friends are.”
