Colombia’s cuisine may not be world famous, but it is tasty.


Colombia’s cuisine isn’t world famous, but it’s corn breads (tamales), soups and seafood can be very tasty. Fried plantain (a form of banana) is everywhere and is an acquired taste.s

Fruit is what it’s all about in Colombia. Supermarkets and street stalls sell a bewildering variety of familiar and not-so-familiar fruits, from the soft and squishy to ones you’ll need a sharp knife to get into.


Tap water is safe to drink in Bogota and Medellin. But outside these big cities it's best to drink bottled water.
