Stephen Thorpe is a UK based journalist, author and photographer specialising in the Caribbean for over forty years. Engaged by the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States in 1993 to prepare a manifesto for hiking, wildlife and birding programmes in the member territories, his template presaged many of today's eco-centric sustainable initiatives so vital for a challenging modern era. In a previous incarnation as planner-architect based in Jamaica and Barbados, he spent half a lifetime in the region, the other half remembering it. A lead author on island travel guides to Dominica, Trinidad and St.Kitts-Nevis, he writes primarily on environmental conservation, property, travel, cricket and West Indian culture.
