It was the reunion that indie fans across the world had been hoping for for years, and it is the bust up that just as many fans would probably describe as ‘predictable', as Ian Brown trashed drummer Reni on stage in Amsterdam.
The singer returned to the stage after the band had played the main set, at which point they were expected to encore with I Am The Resurrection, as they had done at their Barcelona show the week before.
Only Brown shuffled on stage alone and said that "the drummer’s gone home". The audience thought it was a joke, despite Brown attesting otherwise.
“Get all your aggro out on me, I can take it” Brown said to the crowd, adding: “What can I say? The drummer’s a c**t.”
The crowd still thought it was a wind up but when the house DJ began to play and the crew marched out on stage they quickly realised otherwise, and the mood turned sour as boos rang out and beers rained down on the stage.
The Stone Roses are set to play some of the biggest shows of their career, with a number of headline festival dates this summer at the likes of V Festival, benicassim, and T In The Park, and a trio of headline shows at Heaton Park in Manchester.
