Beers at this summer’s Olympics will cost more than £7 a pint, it has emerged.
Heineken, the only beer which will be on sale in the Olympic park, will cost £4.80 for a 330ml bottle – which equates to more than £7 a pint, more than double the national average.
“Best of British’ food on sale in the park will also set you back a princely sum, with fish and chips going for £8 and lamb curry and rice for £8.50.
Olympic organisers have defended the prices though, saying they are comparable to the costs at other large sporting events, and that you will be permitted to bring food and drink with you so long as it can fit in side a backpack and be placed under your seat.
