After seemingly interminable wet weather summer has finally arrived, with Wednesday this week set to be the hottest day of the year so far. Don’t get the Pimm’s out just yet though as it could be rain again by Friday’s Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Temperatures are predicted to hit 30C in the middle of this week, but this welcome warm weather is set to break towards the weekend, with showers likely to affect Danny Boyle’s lavish £27M opening ceremony celebrating the Olympics here in the Isles of Wonder.

“It is a few days off yet so it is still confusing as to where we might see rain,” Met office forecaster Helen Waite has said.

“It looks like the drier weather in the south may well break down a little bit, and there is more chance of a few showers.”

So while London is set to bask in especially warm weather this week, it looks like it might be back to the recent unsettled weather by the weekend, and the beginning of the Games.

Bookies William Hill is offering odds of 3-1 that rain will strike come Friday night. Have your brollies at the ready!
