The reclusive filmmaker Terence Malick, who famously boycotts all interviews junkets, press conferences and red carpet-type affairs, has been filmed by US gossip website TMZ – only they didn’t recognise him.
Malick, writer-director of Badlands, The Lost World and The Tree Of Life, was spotted walking in Hollywood on Saturday night with actor Benicio Del Toro, only the reporter didn’t recognise the recluse partnering the Wolfman star.
It was only later that the identity of the publicity shy Malick was established.
Malick has only directed four films since Badlands in 1978. He has three projects in the pipeline though, To The Wonder, starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, Lawless, starring Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale and Knight of Cups, starring Bale and Cate Blanchett.
