Gary Barlow made a dramatic exit from the stage at last night’s X Factor as he stormed off the show in protest at Louis Walsh’s decision to save Rylan Clark and send Carolynne Poole packing.
Tulisa and Nicole Scherzinger voted to save their own acts and with Louis Walsh’s acts all through to the next week, he cast the deciding vote.
After Rylan and Carolynne, Louis initially opted to save Carolynne but then changed his mind and voted to save Rylan, which forced the two into a deadlock at which point the audience votes were read out. After Rylan was announced the winner, Gary reacted furiously, storming off the set.
Barlow proclaimed that the decision was an ‘absolute joke’, and said of Rylan’s performance of Spandau Ballet’s Gold: “I wanted to have some fun and I really was having fun until you started singing tonight. Was embarrassed to be sat here.”
