Just a day out from the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Ascot, Black Caviar doubters have emerged.
After fellow Australian sprinter Ortensia ran ninth in the 1000m King's Stand Stakes on the opening day of Royal Ascot, British commentators were quick to question the rest of the country’s horses.
"If you're a Black Caviar fan tuned in from Australia, you're just thinking to yourself at this minute, on the European stage, are the Australian sprinters as good as we had all hoped?" English racing commentator Matt Chapman said.
"Because if Black Caviar is a four, five, six-length better horse than Ortensia, she would have got beaten in the King's Stand Stakes if, and it's a massive if, if Ortensia has run to her best.
Trainer Peter Moody was having none of it.
"I think she's exactly where I want her. Fitness levels are good and everything seems right," he said.
"Like any horse, little things can go wrong and you probably worry a little bit more with her, especially because we're so far from home, but it's all gone to plan thus far. We've had the whole team here, they are all familiar hands and we're all really pleased."
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that Black Caviar, under 24-hour guard ahead of the race, generates as much on raceday as Melbourne AFL Collingwood does at a MCG blockbuster.
The mare's distinctive colours of salmon with black polka dots sell everything from caps to can coolers, key rings and cuff links.
Her marketers have cashed in with a Black Caviar Royal Ascot range.
It’s not all greed though - a percentage of all sales is donated to the National Jockeys' Trust for injured riders.
