Spurs club captain Ledley King has been forced concede defeat to the injuries that have plagued him for several years and call time on his playing career.
“Sadly my injuries and inability to train have finally brought an end to me career,” he told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website.
He will continue to be involved with the club though as an ambassador.
“I have been here since I was a boy. I have always considered it my club and have always found it hard to imagine wearing the shirt of another team,” he added of his decision.
He made 264 league appearances for Spurs since he joined the club in 1999.
