Millionaire Brit Greg Cox, 32, is set to stand trial for the rape of a 21-year-old woman at a bar in Bondi Beach in January.
The alleged incident – which Cox contends was consensual sex and not rape - took place in January.
His lawyers unsuccessfully applied for an injunction on his name being released due to his affluent background and career.
Cox’s barrister Graham Turnbull said in a committal hearing that there were “'inconsistencies” in the statement made to police by his alleged victim, who is from Bermuda.
Turnbull argued there was a reasonable chance the charge would be dismissed.
Magistrate Greg Walsh told the court the “Crown case is not without strength” and that Cox would get a fair trial.
Cox, from Somerset, is said to be a jet-setter who runs a firm which offers loans to people with poor credit ratings.
