American politics can be, shall we say, eccentric, but it also hides some fairly extreme views – such as the Arkansas Republican candidate who thinks there should be a death penalty option for “rebellious children".
Charlie Republican Candidate for the House of Representatives Charlie Fuqua has courted controversy with many opinions expressed in his book God’s Law, not least the notion that naughty children should face the death penalty for misbehaving.
He wrote, according to local paper the Arkansas Times: “The maintenance of civil order in society rests on the foundation of family discipline. Therefore, a child who disrespects his parents must be permanently removed from society in a way that gives an example to all other children of the importance of respect for parents.”
Fuqua, who is against abortion, would support the death penalty for minors as it is mentioned in the bible and so is permissable. He has also spoken in his book about his support for the removal of Muslims from the United States.
