“Chelsea’s Ashley Cole has been fined £90,000 after he admitted an FA charge in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

“Cole, who had requested a non-personal hearing, was also warned as to his future conduct,’ reads a statement on the FA’s website.

Cole made the comment via the social networking site in response to the Football Association’s verdict in the John Terry racism case, in which the former England skipper was found guilty. Cole, who gave evidence in the case in support of his Chelsea and England teammate, disagreed with the FA’s verdict and posted his thoughts online for all to see.

Despite apologising the same day via his solicitor and then in person to FA head honcho David Bernstein was not enough to save his bacon. The fine though, only amounts to about half a week’s wages.
