The survivalist and adventurer, whose Man vs Wild show made him an worldwide star, has reportedly had his Discovery deal terminated after months of wrangling over two new programmes he was contracted to take part in.
His publicist confirmed the split, saying that Grylls disagreed with the network’s decision not to proceed with the unnamed shows, believed to have begun production.
Broadcast in Britain since 2006 under the name Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, Man vs Wild featured the former SAS member dropped into remote parts of the world and survive by foraging.
The show has been screened in more than 200 countries, with viewers eager to see Grylls take on increasingly extreme environments. In one show he ate insects and in another he survived by drinking his own urine.
