Cheryl Cole visited Prince Charles on Tuesday to discuss her plans to help needy teenagers in the northeast by collaborating with the royal charity, the Prince’s Trust.
Since 1976 Prince Charles has run a charity to assist disadvantaged youths by encouraging them to start their own business or return to their education. The Trust deals primarily with teenagers that have dropped out of school, are long-term unemployed, have had trouble with the law, or are leaving care.
Cole met with the Prince to discuss supporting the Trust with her foundation, The Cheryl Cole Foundation.
“I have always been a great admirer of the work of the Prince’s Trust with disadvantaged young people across the UK,” said Cole. “It’s the perfect charity for my foundation to support.”
With her popularity preceding her, The Cheryl Cole Foundation is likely to rake in millions for the Trust. With this financial boost, the Trust will help more young people get their lives back on track than ever before.
The collaboration comes at a good time, as the recent recession has raised the unemployment rate to record highs.
Cole said she hopes her support will target needy young people in the northeast, specifically New Castle, from which Cole hails.
“They have so much potential – but can go off the rails without the right care and support,” said Cole. “I want my Foundation to help them realise their potential and get their lives on track.”
Those most pleased about the collaboration may be the Prince’s sons, as Prince William and Prince Harry are rumoured to be “big fans” of Cole.
