In its 10th year, the TV channel Dave gave its Funniest Joke of The Fringe Award to Ken Cheng for “I’m not a fan of the new pound coin, but then again, I hate all change,” which was part of his show – Chinese Comedian at Cellar – at Pleasance.
With 33% of the vote the winning joke line come in ahead of experienced festival favourites, Frankie Boyle, Alexei Sayle and Tim Vine.
Former Cambridge student, Cheng told UK TV website “I am very proud to have won. As a tribute, I will name my firstborn son after this award and call him ‘Joke of The Fringe.”
