Getting there
Air Pacific is Fiji’s international carrier, with direct flights from Auckland, Christchurch, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Narita (Japan). Air Pacific is a full partner of the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme and has code-share arrangements.
Other airlines that fly into Fiji are Qantas, Air New Zealand, Korean Air and Pacific Blue.
Getting around
Bus
In Fiji the public bus reigns supreme. Most visitors come to love the adventure of using the local open-windowed buses — perfect for getting to your destination for only a few dollars while taking in the sights along the way and chatting to the locals in the seats around you. Canvas flaps are rolled down in the rare event of rain.
Every town and village, no matter how small, has a bus stop but you can also hail a public bus from the roadside by waving to the driver.
Taxi
Cabs are also cheap for getting around town and fares are negotiable if you’re taking a longer journey.
Ferry
When it comes to island hopping, ferries linking Fiji’s major islands are plentiful.
The Mamanuca and Yasawa group of islands are serviced regularly by scheduled ferries or fast catamarans including Awesome Adventures, South Sea Cruises and Malolo Cat.
