Chloe the American Staffordshire terrier pup was rushed to the vets by Stacey Zammit, from Truganina in the state of Victoria, Australia.
“Cleo had really bloodshot eyes and she was pretty unsteady. She couldn’t move around much because she was so wasted.” Zammit told The Herald Sun.
“The alcohol stops a chemical reaction in the body,” explained Dr Yenny Indrawirawan, who had a bottle handy for the kill-or-cure remedy in the surgery which had been a Christmas gift.
“Without the vodka, Cleo was likely to develop renal failure.”
The puppy recovered from her hangover with lots of sleep.
The innoative vodka cure comes as news of a new healthy non-alcoholic beer that has been developed specifically for dogs.
