This has got to be one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken. It’s almost ethereal in a way, like looking through a window into the past. Every time I look at this I can just imagine what it would have been like when everyone in Japan wore kimonos like this day in & day out.
I love the vibrancy of the colours of the kimono’s complementing the autumnal colours in the background; the small lines around the hairline that are almost in focus showing off the traditional white make-up this lady is wearing and even the man in more modern clothing walking towards these two ladies, one of which had just stooped to pick something up off the ground.
As someone commented it’s almost like an oil painting which I think is partly why I love it so much; it’s not the normal clean lines I go for in taking photos and from this I am now much more creative!! And to think I almost deleted it!
I do still have the original if required – sorry can’t remember what resolution I loaded to flickr but have a feeling it’s not the original
