LaMarcus D Ramsay, 20, of Pratville, Alabama, was attending court on a charge of receiving stolen property.

But Judge John Bush ruled at Autanga County Circuit Court that Ramsay’s jeans were so low that they were in contempt of court for showing his pants.

The Judge became visibly irate, say reports, and sentenced him to three days at the Autauga Metro jail.

Judge Bush said: “When you get out you can buy pants that fit, or at least get a belt to hold up your pants so your underwear doesn’t show.”

Bush added: “To me, it’s not any different than if someone stood up in court and started cussing everybody out.

“It’s disrespectful conduct and I think as judges we’re expected to at least have some degree of control and respect for the courtroom the people have given us charge of.”
