If you’ve been known to sport some ping pong prowess in the garden of your local boozer, now you have the opportunity take your skills to a wider audience. Step up to the plate on Monday, October 24, at Pongathon, a ping pong party where, there will be two floors filled with wall-to-wall ping pong playing for anyone who’s keen to have a go.
The ping pong tables will be set against a backdrop of live visual art showing weird and wonderful ping pong footage from around the world, exhibition games, trick shots and coaching tips from the professionals. The Pongathon robot will also make his debut, challenging players to reach high scores for a prize.
The highlight of the day will be a world record attempt for the most players to participate in a single rally. The first 150 people to sign up to the Pongathon Facebook page, will to try to snatch the current record of 101 held by Shanghai’s Cao Yanhua table-tennis training school.
The event runs from 5pm-11pm and every little bit of this ping pong madness is free.
