Talk title: Small groups, big experiences
Speaker’s name: Karl Bolton of Edge www.edgeadventures.com

It’s true what they say – “happiness is a path, not a destination”. It’s the journeys that we never forget – the places we see, the people we meet and the surprises we stumble upon along the way. But to guarantee we get the most from these experiences, small group travel is essential. Who wants to fight their way through a crowd of 30 to get to the front?! Join us on a whistle-stop tour across Iceland as we show you how to make the most of every minute.

Why do you love to travel?
It’s a great way to open your mind and the best education there is.

Who would be your ideal travel partner and why?
I have to say my wife; I like living.

What was your favourite destination last year and why?
Egypt – although there has been a lot of publicity about the political situation there, this old favourite still is the most interesting of places.

Describe the most unusual situation you’ve found yourself in while travelling.
Having a mini world cup when I travelled to France during the world cup in 2008 with the Brits (including a few girls) against a German side who could not believe we beat them.

Name two up-and-coming destinations for 2013.
Iceland; there’s strong demand and the Northern Lights are very good at the moment and Costa Rica; it has amazing wildlife and natural environment with great adventure activities all at a good price.

If you could return to any country you’ve been to, where would it be and why?
Lebanon; Explore was the first UK operator to go back into this country which really blew me away with its history, beauty and culture – did you know you can go skiing in Lebanon and be on the beach on the same day?

What’s the one thing you can’t travel without and why?
Shorts especially if it’s hot (I don’t like wearing trousers).

Give us an overview of what you’ll be discussing at the TNT Travel Show:
I’ll be talking about small group travel with a focus on Iceland. Iceland is the ideal location for adventure – our trips allow customers to try snowmobiling, drive in giant superjeeps, horse riding across lava landscapes, take a recuperative dip in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon, and spot the Northern Lights during the winter months.

Who will find your talk relevant?
Anyone looking to understand about small group adventure trips.
