Diaspora Calling! arrives on British soil for the first time this August, taking over the Milton Keynes National Bowl for a major open-air event on Friday 7th August 2026. diasporacalling.com

The headline act is Ms. Lauryn Hill, and this is currently her only confirmed UK performance of the year. Joining her is fellow Fugees founding member Wyclef Jean, whose sound threads hip-hop through Caribbean soul and global influences, plus YG Marley and Zion Marley, grandsons of Bob Marley, who bring conscious reggae lyricism and a contemporary take on a family legacy that needs no introduction. Further acts across two stages are still to be announced, with Hill promising very special guests covering hip-hop, R&B, reggae, dancehall, and afrobeats.

The festival itself has roots going back to 2016, when Hill conceived it as a music and arts initiative celebrating the culture, creativity and shared histories of the African diaspora. It began with an art exhibition and live performance at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, before expanding into a touring platform that has previously featured Nas, Kehlani, Noname and Little Simz. The UK edition is the first time the concept has crossed the Atlantic.

Beyond the music, expect a full food village with traders, art installations, and a cashless site with contactless payments throughout. Gates open early afternoon, with a full schedule to be announced closer to the event.

The National Bowl, MK5 8AA, sits close to Milton Keynes Central station, served by Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway. A pedestrian route from the station takes around 20 to 25 minutes on foot, and shuttle buses will run throughout the day from MK Central. Coach travel from around the UK starts from £35 via the official travel partner, Big Green Coach. Parking is available to pre-book on the festival website.
